It's alive! (sort of)

Well there you have it. I've dropped a few small hints of what I've been working on over the last few months and now one of the pieces if finally live. The premise is pretty simple: I had a couple of friends who I met after the games last year outside the stadium and it seemed every time we had pretty good conversations about what just happened on the pitch. So I figured why not just record it? Instead of talking about it in the parking lot or at the pub, lay down a track and have something people can listen to? Three TFC fans on their take on the game and players. Nothing pretentious, just another opinion out there, and from what there is to choose from (ie not much) I figured since it costs me nothing then why not giver!

So check it out at www.rednationonline.ca

The best part is (for me AND YOU) is that this is actually a pretty small piece of something much bigger that is getting close to being done. So that is one excuse why this blog hasn't picked up much over the last few months. So hang tight and keep checking that link (all five of you).

Much ado about nothing

I'm keeping this short but still wanted to post this because not much has gone on this week (except the Reds getting CRUSHED at Anfield ugh). PEOPLE ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS?! I cannot believe this whole BS and the spillover from it is still going on. I don't think of this event as the story of that day, and if the catch-word that has been thrown around so loosely, especially by the media here in Toronto, actually did occur (as in not a bunch of drunk randos stealing each others scarves but by it's real definition) it would have been the Toronto sports story of the fucking decade. I'm still surprised that TFC FO has not come out and defended it's supporters who went down there only to enjoy the game and support the team. Who spent easily over $200 in "the current economic situation" not to go and "cause problems" but to cheer on Toronto FC. Their silence is deafening. Anyway I've never cared for this topic over the last two weeks and I'm more lamenting about the fact it even made the news! Hey it's my blog I gotta fill this puppy up.

Tomorrow gotta get prepped for Dallas/Blackburn on Saturday! Time to bounce back you Reds - COME ON YOU REDS.

PS. My new section is super quiet it kinda sucks.

My oh my

Well that was a bumout. I certainly wasn't the only spouting off that TFC would show up Seattle at home but MAN we got pwned! It was still a decent game but Toronto needs to get their shit together quick and learn from this bad outing. 2-0 agh at least it didn't end up a complete debacle at 5-0 or something because it was seriously looking like it at one point. So here is the recap of a forgettable April 4, 2008 ... OOOPS it's 2009, who'd have guessed?!

#1 DO NOT REMOVE TAG THIS IS YOUR TICKET

Stadium is looking sharp this year. Notice Bitchy's perch on the top. I've missed that bird for the last 6 months.

Ah home sweet home for 15+ games this year.

Best part about TFC and BMO Field

Did Seattle top this?

HERE WE GO HERE WE GO HERE WE GOOOOOOO

Hey who is that #10 washout has-been??

OH SHIT

Can we get it together in the 2nd half??

NOPE

Now this was the craziest thing I've had happen to me in a while. This piece of shit walked past me leaving the game - and I kid you not - looked me dead in the eye and said, "you know what our problem is? Too many N$#(@##$s on the team" WTF. Well that was one of those moments where it takes you 5 minutes to digest that and wish you had spat in his face. I can't believe people like this still exist. So if this back profile is recognized at the games - feel free to spit on this bigoted asswipe.

That was a shitty way to end a horrible game but what can you do. After calming down and thawing out I'm still optimistic we'll get our shit together. I'd rather get whooped now then later on when we are scrambling for points, so hopefully we learn from this! See you next sat!

Home sweet home

Here we go! 2009 home opener and I am S-T-O-K-E-D. I've been lucky enough to see some big games at BMO but this one feels different. I am expecting this one to be completely bananas. Maybe if it wasn't Seattle it would be slightly less crazy but with the whole hoop-la of how 'great' their fans are, I know we are going to show them what's what. I'll keep this short but the start of this season has been amazing - I am so pumped we have 4 points off the bat and De Rosario was absolutely brilliant in Kansas City and now with hopefully Guevara playing tomorrow, he'll be back in that role in the home-opener which will spell trouble for the Sounders. I have no problems being wrong but I just don't see us losing this game - if Seattle thinks they know what the 12th man is all about they'll rethink that after tomorrow. GO REDS 2-0 TFC! HAHA!!

Don't let the door ...

I know the consistency of this blog is spotty ... well most of the time, but hang tight it's for good reason. Can't say what the deal is quite yet but I'll post something up for the loyal ... hmmm looks like 3 people who read this. John, Dave and Pete it'll all be worth it in the next couple weeks. Now on topic (re photo) - hey I've said it fifty times, this isn't a news blog so I don't get a late pass for writing about stuff that happened last week. What can we say about this? I'm still dumbfounded to be honest the way the last year has unfolded and it's taken until now for Dale Mitchell to get the can. I know everyone is breathing a sigh of relief and is now optimistic about the future but sorry I for one am not. The day I'll finally say HOORAY will be the day either a) we see a report the Government is disbanding the CSA or better b) someone appoints a separate entity to handle the National Soccer Programs. Who knows when this will ever happen. I'm sure too many people are making good money to give up what comes with managing all of soccer in Canada.

Then we have this amazing shot for a WTF moment (I have alot of those). I guess it's not a HUGE deal, or maybe i'm missing something (hmmm that is very possible) but did nobody tell Harper although this guy is Canadian he doesn't play for our National team? Or even better, did anyone tell him WHY he doesn't play for our National team???

And here is my last WTF moment of the day. ENJOOOOY!!

Eh! How you bin?!

Many factors leading to a one week absence from the ol' blog, most notably the most disgusting flu I've had in years where I pretty much wanted to sleep every day at work under my desk. But alas I had enough energy to wake up at 4am Saturday morning, get on the bus and trek 8hrs to the buckeye state to see the Reds against the Yellows. It all went a lil' something like this ... mmmyesss ....

BMO at 5am

Beer at 5am

There was no urinating on this church, but many jokes made about doing it

Ahhh Buffal ... I mean Columbus!

This guy was crazy

Almost 2,000 literate Canadians on hand

A game broke out!

A riot broke out! (not really)

Goooooool TFC and then it went bananas again.

In Carver we trust ... we steal a point! Can't be beat 2009!

This is where it began *sigh* GO THUGS

I need a drink after that.

8hrs later the next day, home sweet home.

ON TO TAKING ON SEATTLE! 6 DAYS TO GO!!

Holy First Kick!

Whoa damn. This is no expansion team. Or wait, what's the question? Is Seattle this good or NYRB that bad? Well, I'd be willing to toss out there that NYRB could be that bad. Sure they made it to the MLS Cup finals, but they hardly edged us out into the playoffs and I haven't followed their offseason but I can't see any big signings except the loss of Dave Van De Bergh. And on a little siderant wtf I thought this game started at 10pm?? I go onto justin.tv and the game is 30 mins in! ESPN commentating is the WORST. I'm curious to see how this crowd holds up, if it's first game celebrations or if this really is a football crowd.

March 21 is here and October feels just like yesterday when we were whooping it up after beating Chicago. Alot of promise for 2009, I'm just hoping we still pick up another CB (really!?!) because the Harmse/Velez/Serioux trio is gonna be bananas with cards and suspensions. This season though my man to watch is Guevara. If he's anything like 2005 and like he's been with Honduras, we are gonna be beasts. Tomorrow night will be sweet, except I'm sick as a dog now and are getting tattooed tomorrow, so I could very well be barfing everywhere by game time. That's right. Picture it. Spark puking. BARF! My prediction via rolling dice:

TFC 1
KC ... 6!!!!

WTF forget that. No dice, just gut. TFC 2 - KC 1. We have the offence, KC has too many injuries off the top, we can do it! Start the season on the road right. Then off to Columbus next weekend which will also be bananas. THEN it's BMO TIME! This is our challenge this season to show up these guys, which I don't think will be hard. I"m looking forward to Serioux hopefully being fit for the home opener and ripping into Montero. I think we can count on it.
